It is a boutique hotel, simple but cozy with a breathtaking view to the st Lawrence river and a unique location near the fortress, Abraham plains and near to the funicular and Terrace Dufferin. We got only the ground floor but the 2nd and 3rd is much better

We had a great stay. The staff were really friendly and helpful. They gave us a lot of information about the area and even have us a map of the Christmas markets. The room was clean and well stocked. They even provided some snacks and drinks in the room free of charge. We were thankful they had parking as well for $25 a day. The location was perfect. It was close to everything but not in a super busy area. We could walk everywhere. One thing to be aware of is that it is a four story building with steep stairs so if you have mobility issues make sure to ask for a room on a lower level. We had a fantastic stay and would definitely come again!

I stayed for two nights in an inner room. The room was spacious, but it seemed like the signs of age were unavoidable. Nevertheless, the friendly staff, the parking space, and the prime location for traveling in Old Quebec were all so good! Especially for Koreans who have memories of the drama "Goblin" (Dokkaebi), I think this would be the best accommodation.

We had a wonderful stay at Hôtel Terrasse Dufferin in Quebec City. The location truly can’t be beat—right along the Dufferin Terrace with breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence River and Château Frontenac. Being able to step outside and be in the heart of Old Quebec was such a treat. Our room was clean, comfortable, and charming, with a cozy historic feel that fits perfectly with the surroundings. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and always happy to offer tips and help when needed.

My daughter and I spent 3 nights here over the long May weekend. This hotel is a very affordable option for those who appreciate a historical building in the most prime location with a spectacular view of the St. Lawrence. We booked a balcony room which was furnished with lovely antiques. Unfortunately we didn't have any balcony weather, but it was still useful to be able to open the door to check on the weather! We didn't bring a car, so it was great to be within 15 minutes walk of everything we wanted to do. Postcard pictures everywhere you look! Loads of dining options, shops and art galleries close at hand. Check in was easy, and staff was friendly and welcoming. If you expect chain hotel amenities, you should book elsewhere, as you may not like the rooms with character, no elevator and minimal soundproofing. But we wanted to experience that Old Quebec City vibe, and it was perfect for us. Lots of towels, a mini fridge, microwave and basket full of snacks on arrival. I will definitely recommend to friends.

I feel I need to justify my rating of 4.5 by noting that for the class of the hotel, the hotel Terrasse Dufferin is very good, and we would happily stay there again. Comparing it to hotels of all classes, it would be about a 3 -- mostly because it could use some updating. The building is more than 200 years old, and very charming, so it is to be expected that it won't be modern with the latest and greatest. I suspect how happy you are with it depends on the room you get and how recently it was updated. Being at this hotel felt to me like staying in a friend's guestroom -- in a good way. Our room was nice, comfortable and spotless. The mattresses were of good quality and newer. The portable AC was a bit awkward, and we had to guess at some of the controls. The bathroom fixtures definitely need replacing soon but were in perfect working order, and a towel bar there would be welcome. The staff were excellent and very helpful about what to do and where to eat. Parking is available for a fee. And can we please talk about location? A charming storied hotel wth an affordable view of the river, more or less next to the famous hotel Frontenac on one side and the toboggan run on the other, just outside of the terrace Dufferin, and in the heart of old town can't be beat.

Gorgeous old Hotel on the river! Nothing updated or cosmo about this location. It is a throw back to when times were more simple in a Beautiful Location. Historical hotel. Ambiance with all the amenities (in room) one could ask for. So easy to get there and access, which is really important in this area of tight, narrow streets. It's proximity to everything in the Old Quebec section was delightful!

A Charming Home Away from Home in the Heart of Old Quebec I stayed at Hôtel Terrasse Dufferin for two nights, and from beginning to end, everything about the experience was amazing. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Quebec City. The hotel has a warm, boutique feel—like a European-style family home where you have your own private space but still feel incredibly welcome. The rooms are not overly spacious, but they're very comfortable, clean, and charmingly decorated with enough space to move around easily. It felt cozy and chic, with an unbeatable view that added so much to the experience. The location couldn’t be better—right in the center of everything and easily walkable to all the main attractions in Old Quebec. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and we were warmly welcomed upon arrival, which really set the tone for the rest of our stay. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful, always ready to assist without being intrusive. The hotel also has lovely lounging areas and offers thoughtful complimentary touches like snacks and coffee in the room, refreshed daily. The bathroom was spotless, with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. I didn’t use the TV, but it was there for those who want it. The Wi-Fi was strong and reliable, and the room stayed perfectly quiet at night once the windows were closed. It’s a great spot for solo travelers, couples, families, or anyone looking to soak in the charm of Quebec City in a peaceful, beautiful setting. And for the price, it’s absolutely worth it.
